Ballista

The Harrison Ballista is a design classic. Like an air-cooled Porsche, it delivers the benchmark in performance and bullet proof build quality.When we introduced it, everyone else was making Carp rods with spigot joints. All the other Carp fishing rods seemed heavy and big in diameter. The tips of the other rods were thick, and unwilling to bend to the strain of a fish. Other rods were made in the same fibres from tip to butt, unlike our multi modulus approach to design. Kevlar was still being pushed as a wonder material, and others were flirting with Dyneema and Boron.

Today, many of our competitors have followed the lead we made with Ballista, some even cynically and unashamedly copying our tapers. But, thats not a problem, as “He who aims to keep abreast, is for ever second best” Piet Hein. That is why, in 2006 we are still selling them like hot cakes! So let us recap on what makes Ballistas a firm favourite across Europe.

Torrix

The Torrix is Harrison’s flag ship range, The 12ft 31/4 Torrix, 12ft 6 TE Torrix and the 12ft TE Torrix are the three biggest selling.

The Torrix story starts with the 12ft 31/4, Built on years of experience the Torrix was designed by the lads at Harrison to be the best Carp rod around.Capable of casting big distances yet it remains slim and balanced. A backbone of high modulus carbon and ultra light scrim finished with 1K fabric.

The TE models are tweaked to move the kick point higher up the rod for a little more precision at distance, but with no loss in balance.

Aviator

This new rod from Harrison brings together everything they have learnt in the last 25 years and represents a major step forward in torsion control.

All rods twist on the cast, something that is emphisisied even more with todays higher stand off rings. Rod twist doesn’t affect day to day fishing but in this age of long range fishing it certainly does have an effect.

The Aviator is available in two models, Aviator Plus and Aviator Flex, the Plus being a 3lb 6oz test curve which is more powerful than the hugely popular 31/4lb Torrix, this is the rod of choice if you are regularly fishing ranges from 80-140yds. The Flex model is 3lb 2oz and a softer action, a beautiful fish playing rod with plenty of power through the butt and mid section of the rod.

The new Aviator is taking the already phenominal Torrix series to new heights.

Trebuchet

Trebuchet is a real world distance fishing rod. The distances it has achieved are not with pendulum casts. 200yds is achievable on the casting field which means that there is the potential to fish at huge distances. The Light version (Please don’t think that light version isn’t powerful) The Light version is just a true casting rod that can be used by us mere mortals. The regular Treb’s, on the other hand, are a true beast and when used by someone with a good casting technique, can quite literally hit the horizon.
